Using large muscles (like the ones in your legs) elevates the heart and respiratory rate. This increases the efficiency of your heart and lungs as they provide muscles with oxygen. It prevents plaque from building up in arteries and reduces blood pressure. This is especially important for those who are at an age when heart problems may appear.
