Obesity USA Epidemic or Global
There was a time, not very long ago when obesity was considered an American problem. The obesity epidemic has been growing steadily and drastically since 1980. The American population is known for its business and academic success. Unfortunately, they are also known for sacrificing nutrition in order to hold on to every moment in their day. They are fast food junkies and they choose to buy the media hype that they have “healthy” choices for every member of the family.
Portion Control
When a fast-food restaurant competes with another, they usually give the customer more for his money. There are two ways to accomplish this. First, you can reduce the prices, or second, you can give them more product for their money. This means you will need to reprogram the computer. Hopefully, the owner is already trained to do this. The second option is done by the kitchen staff. Simply add more food to their pep.
Global Epidemic
There is no doubt that in the past 25-30 years we have become a global community. Technology has made it possible to buy and sell anywhere in the world. Companies may be set-up in one country while production and shipping take place in an entirely different country.
Education carries similar opportunities. For the first time, students can study and enroll at the college of their dreams.
As we enjoy traveling and living from one country to another, we bring with us our habits. Some of those habits. Some, not so much. Eating take-out is one of those habits. Grabbing a bag filled with oversized burgers and fries to eat as we study, or head home for a few hours of sleep is convenient, but it is packed with calories and not a great choice for vitamins. These fast-food restaurants attract kids and teens no matter where they live. As you can see, Obesity is not just a USA Epidemic.

What harm will it do to kids?
There are a lot of little ones to put on some weight only to drop the pounds when they grow more. However, as the weight continues to grow, more kids play virtual football instead of heading to the field and the suppers that we had as children are now ”snacks a sack,” the less they will be able to fight off pounds. Here are some problems kids can develop due to childhood obesity.
- Diabetes – Type II
- Breathing problems such as asthma, cardiovascular disease, sleep apnea
- Joint problems
- Inability to play normal games
- Emotional problems
- Self-esteem problems
- Eating disorders
Some of these issues will go away with the help of a qualified medical expert It can get expensive as the child grows up. It is a good idea to serve your family healthy foods now. Also, sign him up in a sport he may like or start going on family hikes, or Saturday bike rides. This will help the entire family get in better shape without putting all the attention on one person.
How many calories can I eat?
The answer to this is, you will have to figure it up. The general rule is, you multiply your current weight by 10. This gives you the number of calories it takes you to maintain your current weight. For example, if you weigh 180 pounds, 180 X 10 = 1800. So your base weight is 1800 calories to maintain your weight. Still, if you live a more active life than your father who also weighs 180, that would need to be adjusted for the extra calories that you are using;
