An Alkaline Diet and Women’s Health

Alkaline Diet

The balance of alkaline and acid (measured by pH) is naturally maintained by our bodies. When balance is achieved, cells are able to function properly. However, the foods we consume in large amounts today (such as meat, dairy, eggs, sugar, wheat alcohol, and coffee) raise the body’s acidity. This is not good, because an acidic environment is a perfect home for illness and bacteria to thrive. In order to neutralize the acid, the body takes its valuable minerals from vital organs and bones, thus spending the reserves of magnesium, calcium, sodium, and potassium. This causes problems that can go undetected for years.

When it comes to women’s health, the proposed diet that allows a female body to maintain a proper alkaline range should be 40% acid and 60% alkaline. By starting an alkaline diet, women can regulate their health in various ways, but also have a positive influence on their children and family members by promoting healthy alkaline foods.

What are the positive outcomes of switching to an alkaline diet?

If you are so hungry that you often eat too quickly, feel tired or suffer from a bloated stomach, you are probably eating too much acidic foods. By cutting back on wheat, dairy and meat, and embracing more alkaline food, your body’s alkaline state will help with digestive problems, as well as skin problems, weight and mood. Nutritious and high-alkaline vegetarian food is far easier to digest.

An alkaline diet can solve and prevent conditions such as: unhealthy skin and hair (pale face, hives, dry skin, and thin nails), digestive issues (gastritis, saliva acidic, acid reflux, and excess stomach acid), low energy and fatigue, excessive nervousness, as well as teeth and mouth issues (sensitive gums, loose teeth, sensitivity to acidic foods or hot and cold, and mouth ulcers).

Nutrition

Try to pair every portion of acidic food on your plate with twice as much alkaline food, because the ideal alkaline ration is 2:1. The quality of alkaline food also has a crucial impact on a woman’s health, not just the type of food one consumes. When the food is fresh and comes from the sea or land in your surroundings, it always has a greater nutritional value.

When it comes to fruit, make sure you get it at optimum ripeness, because it then contains the maximum amount of necessary nutrients. Fats, carbohydrates, and proteins in their most natural form can be found in alkaline foods. They are vital for wellbeing and health, and will get the body back in balance. If you are experiencing problems due to high-acidity, you don’t have to completely give up on acidic foods. Just make sure that each meal is at least 80% alkaline. Without magnesium, iron, calcium, phosphorus and potassium, the body struggles to stay in good condition. Alkaline foods are packed with all these essential minerals.

Whey protein powder can also fit into your diet. Whey protein isolate is weakly acidic (less than paneer, sweetened or unsweetened yogurt, and pasteurized milk). It has several nutritional benefits: it provides half of the daily value of vitamins A, B-complex, and C, as well as high-quality protein. Perhaps a better alternative to whey protein is reaching for organic pea protein powder which goes great with the alkaline way of life.

Cauliflower and broccoli are naturally alkalizing, as well as foods such as citrus fruits (limes and lemons). Even though they taste acidic, they are pH-heavy. Other alkaline foods that should be included into your diet are asparagus, spinach, kale, artichoke, fennel, figs, dates, and watercress.

Hydration

The last but not least is – water. One of the most important parts of a good alkaline diet is there to keep us hydrated and clean the body. The more water you drink, the more it will help to cleanse the body by maintaining a balance of body fluids, treating headaches, helping digestion, flushing out toxins, improving mood, energizing muscles, and helping your skin look beautiful.

Turn to an alkaline way of life and introduce it to your home. The benefits are countless and it is one of the safest ways for improving your health and the health of your children. By creating healthy habits from an early age, you will teach them to live healthy and take care of their bodies, because a healthy body is home to a healthy mind.
