It’s easier than you think, especially this time of year, because delicious fruits are slowly coming back into season. Smoothie bowls are a great way to utilize the power of a multitude of fruits, nuts and seeds, and they provide so many nutrients to keep you energized and full throughout the day. If you don’t know where to start, try the few recipes listed to experiment with the endless possibilities of smoothie bowls.
Acai Berry Smoothie Bowl
Acai berries are extremely popular for their powerful antioxidant properties. A handful of delicious berries and a potassium packed banana will do the trick.
- 1 packet of acai berry powder
- 1 banana
- ½ cup of blueberries
- ½ cup of strawberries
- 1 cup of almond milk
Combine all of the ingredients in a blender. If the smoothie is too thin, add ice cubes until the mixture thickens to your liking. You may top the acai berry smoothie bowl with an additional sliced banana, an assortment of mixed berries (like raspberries, blackberries and blueberries) and a sprinkle of chia seeds.
Eat Your Greens Smoothie Bowl
This bowl is as green as can be! Eat this smoothie bowl for breakfast or lunch to get a healthy dose of unsaturated fats, Vitamin B, Iron and Protein.
- 1 whole avocado, cubed
- 1 cup of spinach
- 1 whole mango, cubed
- 1 cup of almond milk
- 1 tsp. of matcha powder
Combine all of the ingredients in a blender. Make sure all of the fibers from the spinach are completely blended through. Top this smoothie bowl with chia seeds, additional mango and a sprinkle of shredded coconut.
Protein Power Bowl
This bowls relies mainly on a scoop of peanut butter for a healthy addition of protein. The toppings for this smoothie bowl can be just about anything that would go with peanut butter!
- 1 cup of mixed frozen berries
- 1 whole banana, sliced
- 2 tablespoons of peanut butter
- 1 cup of almond milk
Blend all of the ingredients together. If it is too thick, you can add a little water. If it’s too thin, you can add an ice cube, one at a time, until the smoothie thickens. Below are some great topping ideas:
- Shredded coconut
- Bananas and kiwi
- Sliced red and green grapes
- Diced red and green apples
- Diced mango
- Chopped peanuts or walnuts
