Important Facts to Know about Weight Loss

Maintaining your oral hygiene regularly is an important aspect of your health. There are many things that affect the state of your mouth and teeth. For instance, most of the foods that we eat are filled with artificial ingredients that rot our teeth and violate our oral health. That is why it is important to know what foods to avoid and what foods to eat in order to prevent your teeth from rotting or getting cavities.

All sugar based drinks such as sodas should be replaced with fresh natural water. Other than the fact that sodas contain big amounts of sugar, they also contain citric and phosphoric acid. Also try to limit your wine intake. As much as it can be good for your blood pressure it is at the same time that much harmful to your teeth. This goes both for coffee and black tea as they are known to leave more stains on your teeth than tobacco.

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables

Fresh fruits and vegetables are a good choice as they have high water contents which helps with diluting the effects of the sugars they contain. So some pears, melon, celery and cucumbers are a perfect choice. Citrus fruits should be avoided as they are highly acidic and can erode tooth enamel. Bananas and raisins should also be avoided because they contain concentrated sugar.

Most of the snacks we eat are filled with artificial sweeteners and sugars that are the main cause of cavities. Definitely avoid chewy, sugary and acidic candy as they allow bacteria in your mouth to produce more harmful acid. Hard candy can also chip your teeth and even crook them. If it comes to this don’t hesitate to visit a professional, such as an orthodontist in Sydney. Also, when talking about foods that are filled with sugar, try to stay away from cookies, cakes, muffins etc. When it comes to chewing gum, you would probably be surprised to find out that chewing sugarless chewing gum can actually benefit your teeth. It’s because it produces saliva that helps neutralize mouth acids.

Vitamin- Rich Foods

Some foods that are rich with vitamins such as calcium can be really good for your teeth. That includes milk, almonds, leafy greens, yogurt, soy etc. Milk actually helps neutralize the acid in your mouth. Other than that some foods that contain phosphorus like fish, eggs and meat can help keep tooth enamel strong and healthy.

Inform yourself of the foods you eat. Not only is it crucial for your teeth it is important for your whole wellbeing. Consult with your dentist or orthodontist about foods that you should and shouldn’t eat. Prevention is always the best cure. It is better to be safe than sorry. So manage your diet, fill it with healthy foods packed with vitamins and crucial minerals and you will definitely benefit from it. And don’t worry you don’t need to eliminate everything you like from your diet, just try to limit the harmful foods and you’ll be good.
